Crimson Desert increases Pearl Abyss Q1 earnings more than fivefold to $220.6m

Pearl Abyss had an explosive Q1 2026, with operating revenue surging 419.8% year-over-year to $220.6 million, driven almost entirely by the March 19 launch of Crimson Desert. The single-player open-world action game generated approximately $179–180 million in revenue within just two weeks of launch, selling over 5 million copies and establishing itself as a major commercial success.

The game’s profitability translated directly to the company’s bottom line: operating profit jumped to $142.5 million from just $5.3 million a year earlier, while net profit rose to $114.2 million compared to $5.1 million in Q1 2025. For context, Black Desert Online—Pearl Abyss’s established flagship title—generated only $40 million during the same quarter, underscoring Crimson Desert’s dominance.

The game’s success demonstrates particularly strong appeal in western markets. Approximately 94% of Crimson Desert’s sales came from outside Korea, with the US and Europe accounting for 81% of total revenue. Console and PC sales split evenly at roughly 50-50, indicating broad cross-platform appeal among players.

Looking ahead, Pearl Abyss plans to capitalize on momentum through continuous post-launch content updates, seasonal events, and DLC offerings designed to maintain player engagement and drive sustained revenue growth.
