How To Unlock The Next Dark Pictures Teaser In Directive 8020

Directive 8020, the latest entry in Supermassive Games’ The Dark Pictures Anthology, has launched as the first installment in the series set in space. The game follows five characters aboard the Cassiopeia, a colony ship tasked with scouting Tau Ceti F to determine if it’s suitable for humanity’s colonization. The story begins when a meteorite collides with the ship, introducing an alien entity that quickly claims its first victims among the crew’s sleeping technicians. When the remaining crew awakens from hypersleep, they find themselves disoriented and thrust into a dangerous situation as they attempt to uncover what has transpired.

The game spans eight episodes and features multiple playable and non-playable characters, with player choices significantly impacting which characters survive their ordeal. While some character deaths are unavoidable due to the narrative structure, strategic decision-making throughout the campaign can allow players to save everyone. The game includes various environmental puzzles that players must solve to progress, such as locating chemical agents, finding serial numbers and key codes hidden throughout different episodes.

Notably, Supermassive Games has incorporated a memorial element into the game in honor of Tony Pankhurst, an actor associated with The Dark Pictures Anthology who passed away in May 2024. The studio has hidden collectible secrets called O Death throughout the game, which players must actively seek out. Additionally, rather than placing the teaser for the next Dark Pictures installment in the end credits as is customary, Supermassive has concealed it behind the O Death secrets, incentivizing players to thoroughly explore the game world.

With its sci-fi setting, branching narrative structure, and emphasis on player agency in determining character fates, Directive 8020 continues the Dark Pictures Anthology tradition of interactive horror storytelling.
