Discord Nitro subscribers to receive “starter edition” of Xbox Game Pass through new partnership
Xbox and Discord have announced a partnership that bundles Xbox Game Pass benefits with Discord Nitro subscriptions. Discord Nitro members will now have access to a “starter edition” of Xbox Game Pass at no additional cost, providing access to a curated library of over 50 games for PC and console, including titles such as Stardew Valley, Grounded, Hades, Fallout 4, and Doom Eternal. The subscription also includes 10 hours of Xbox Cloud Gaming per month, allowing subscribers to play games remotely.
The partnership sweetens both services without raising costs for existing subscribers. Discord Nitro pricing remains unchanged, with the Game Pass starter edition bundled in at no additional charge. In return, Microsoft is providing Discord Nitro benefits to eligible Xbox Game Pass subscribers beginning later this month. These reciprocal benefits include a monthly allowance of 250 Discord Orbs, a 1.2x multiplier on Orbs earned from completing Quests, and automatic discounts in the Discord Shop.
This cross-promotion reflects broader industry trends of services integrating complementary offerings to increase user value and retention. The partnership leverages Discord’s massive gaming community and Xbox’s extensive game library, creating a mutually beneficial arrangement that encourages users to maintain subscriptions to both platforms. By bundling premium gaming access with a popular social platform, both companies aim to deepen user engagement while expanding their respective subscriber bases.
