Singleplayer simulated MMO Erenshor is getting raids this summer
Erenshor, a singleplayer simulated MMORPG created by solo developer Brian (Burgee Media), is receiving a significant content update this summer that will introduce raids for endgame players. Launched in early access on Steam last year, the game offers a unique take on the MMO genre by providing a fully offline experience with AI-controlled “simplayers” who behave like real players—grouping up, joining guilds, and hunting for loot.
The game was conceived to address a personal gap in the developer’s gaming history. Brian had wanted to experience the full MMO lifestyle during his EverQuest years but was unable to participate in group content due to poor internet connectivity. Erenshor solves this by simulating the multiplayer MMO experience entirely through AI-controlled companions and NPCs.
The game has proven successful commercially and critically, maintaining an impressive 94% positive review rating on Steam. With the upcoming summer update, max-level players will gain access to four new raids through special runes. Each raid will feature otherworldly planes as distinct challenges for both human players and simulated companions.
This update represents a natural progression for Erenshor’s endgame content, providing veteran players with group-like challenges despite the game’s singleplayer nature. The inclusion of raids demonstrates how the game continues to evolve as a compelling alternative for players seeking the MMO experience without the traditional multiplayer requirements.
