Gang Of Dragon Developer’s Website Gets Whacked
Gang of Dragon, the highly anticipated debut project from Nagoshi Studio, is facing serious difficulties. The game is being developed by Toshihiro Nagoshi, the legendary creator of the Yakuza franchise who previously led RGG Studios at Sega. Nagoshi Studio was founded in 2022, and Gang of Dragon—a spiritual successor to Yakuza—was first revealed at The Game Awards in 2024.
The project’s troubles began when Chinese tech company NetEase abruptly pulled its financial backing from the studio, raising immediate concerns about viability. The situation escalated in April when the studio’s YouTube channel mysteriously disappeared without explanation. Within hours, the channel reappeared, which some interpreted as a stabilizing sign.
The latest development suggests otherwise. The Nagoshi Studio website has now vanished without notice, marking another concerning setback. While the YouTube channel remains accessible, it appears stripped of meaningful content, further indicating the studio’s precarious position.
The series of unexplained disappearances combined with the loss of publisher funding paint a troubling picture for Gang of Dragon’s future. Fans and industry observers are increasingly concerned about whether the project can survive these compounding challenges, particularly given its high-profile The Game Awards announcement just months earlier.
