New Copilot keyboard shortcuts are coming to Microsoft 365

Microsoft is streamlining access to Copilot across its Microsoft 365 applications by replacing multiple entry points with a simplified two-option approach. Users will be able to access the AI assistant through a floating icon positioned in the bottom-right corner of the screen or via contextual entry points, such as selecting text within documents.

The company is introducing the Alt + C keyboard shortcut as a primary access method, creating a consistent experience across Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and other Microsoft 365 apps. This standardized approach is designed to improve usability by reducing confusion from disparate access methods while maintaining uniformity throughout the office productivity suite.

Copilot will also provide proactive suggestions accessible through the Copilot button, with users able to interact with these recommendations either via keyboard shortcuts or by hovering over the icon. This integration reflects Microsoft’s ongoing strategy to embed AI capabilities throughout its core productivity tools.
