Noctua’s iconic beige and brown PC fan now comes in a slightly less iconic all-black version for PC builders who can’t stand the original colour
Noctua has expanded its popular NF-A12x25 G2 fan lineup with a new ‘Chromax Black’ colorway option, addressing the long-standing complaint from PC builders about the brand’s distinctive beige and brown aesthetic. Recognized as one of the best PC fans available, the NF-A12x25 G2 is praised for delivering excellent airflow across all RPM ranges while maintaining quiet operation, but its iconic color scheme has been a polarizing factor for some enthusiasts.
The black variant is now available in select PWM models through Noctua’s official website. However, the low-speed LS-PWM variant remains exclusive to the original beige and brown colorway. Noctua has emphasized that the black model maintains the same performance characteristics and quality standards as the original, with no changes to the award-winning design formula.
This move reflects broader trends in PC hardware customization, where aesthetics play an increasingly important role in component selection. While the original Noctua color scheme has become synonymous with the brand’s reputation for quality, the introduction of the Chromax Black option provides builders with more aesthetic flexibility without sacrificing the proven thermal performance the fans are known for.
