MPs accuse GTA 6 developer Rockstar of obstructing legal processes, as battle over ‘union-busting’ dismissals continues

In October 2025, Rockstar Games terminated 34 UK-based workers, sparking ongoing controversy and legal action. The company maintains the dismissals were justified due to gross misconduct, specifically alleging that the fired employees violated confidentiality agreements by sharing private information through Discord.

The Independent Workers’ Union of Great Britain (IWGB), however, characterizes the firings as union busting. According to the union, all 34 terminated workers were members of its organization, and the Discord server in question was established specifically to facilitate discussions about unionization efforts.

The dispute has escalated to the political arena. Three Scottish Labour Members of Parliament have publicly accused Rockstar of obstructing legal processes in connection with the dismissals, alleging the company has “failed to cooperate with basic disclosure requests” and refused to “properly engage” with appeal procedures. The MPs have criticized Rockstar’s approach as relying on “silence and closed doors” rather than transparent cooperation.

The IWGB has initiated a formal legal claim against Rockstar challenging the dismissals, turning the case into an ongoing legal battle that highlights broader tensions between gaming studios and workers’ rights advocates regarding labor organization and employer conduct in the industry.
