Valve made more than 27 million unique images for Counter-Strike listings as part of its new ‘major update’ to Steam’s Community Market
Valve has launched a beta test for a major overhaul of Steam’s Community Market, the platform where players buy and sell in-game items and other digital goods. The update addresses the marketplace’s significant growth, with more than 13,000 games now offering Steam Community items and over 700 featuring in-game items available for trade.
As part of this update, Valve generated more than 27 million unique images for Counter-Strike listings, demonstrating the substantial effort involved in modernizing the marketplace infrastructure. The redesign aims to streamline the buying and selling experience, making transactions easier for both buyers and sellers navigating the increasingly complex marketplace.
The overhaul includes UI improvements consistent with Valve’s broader Steam interface modernization efforts, featuring a wider layout for improved visibility and product presentation. This represents another step in Valve’s ongoing expansion of Steam’s interface design, following previous widening changes rolled out across the storefront.
The Community Market has become increasingly central to Steam’s ecosystem as more games integrate trading economies. By updating the marketplace’s functionality and visual design, Valve is ensuring the platform can handle the growing complexity of digital item trading across thousands of titles.
