Resident Evil Requiem and Pragmata help Capcom to a ninth consecutive year of record profits

Capcom has reported record profits for the ninth consecutive year in its fiscal year ending March 31, 2026, driven by strong performance from Resident Evil Requiem and its broader game catalogue. The publisher’s digital contents segment saw sales increase 15.2% year-on-year to ¥144.2 billion ($914 million), with the company achieving record unit sales of 59.07 million games—up from 51.87 million the previous year.

Resident Evil Requiem, released in February 2026, emerged as a major sales driver, selling 6.91 million copies within its first two months. The new Resident Evil installment contributed significantly to the overall success of the Resident Evil franchise, which led Capcom’s sales across all categories. Pragmata also contributed to the strong performance.

The financial results highlight Capcom’s success in leveraging its established IP and digital distribution strategy. Notably, 83.7% of the company’s game sales came from its backlist of older titles, demonstrating the enduring appeal of Capcom’s portfolio. Additionally, 93% of all games sold were digital downloads, reflecting the ongoing shift toward digital distribution in the gaming industry.

Operating profit increased 8.4% to ¥70.6 billion ($447.4 million), and net sales rose 15.2% year over year, marking the highest consolidated sales and operating profit in Capcom’s history. The company’s consistent profitability over nine consecutive years underscores its strong market position and effective franchise management.
