Capcom Lists Dead Rising as One of Its ‘Leading Brands’ That It’s ‘Nurturing’ — but Does That Mean Dead Rising 5?

Capcom has identified Dead Rising as one of its “leading brands” that the company is actively nurturing for growth, according to its latest earnings report. The franchise joins other key properties like Devil May Cry, Dragon’s Dogma, Okami, Ace Attorney, Onimusha, and Mega Man in Capcom’s strategy to position these series as engines of future growth.

The company’s nurturing strategy encompasses multiple approaches, including ports, remakes, sequels, and expanded media presence through films and television adaptations. While specific announcements about Dead Rising’s future remain absent, the official designation suggests Capcom is committed to revitalizing the franchise after years of dormancy.

The franchise has remained largely inactive since 2016’s Dead Rising 4. However, momentum began building with the release of a remaster of the original Dead Rising on PlayStation 5 in 2024. The series previously found success with the well-regarded Dead Rising 1 and 2, while Dead Rising 3 served as a notable launch title for Xbox One.

By listing Dead Rising among its key IP portfolio, Capcom is signaling investor confidence in the franchise’s commercial potential and indicating that new content—whether in the form of sequels, remakes, or adaptations—is under consideration as part of its broader portfolio expansion strategy.
