D&D’s Dungeon Masters just fixed one of Ravenloft’s best features for 5.5e

Dungeons & Dragons’ official actual play show, Dungeon Masters, is serving as a preview platform for upcoming changes to the game’s 5.5e ruleset. The show’s first season is coordinated with the release of Ravenloft: The Horrors Within, a major update book that brings D&D’s popular horror setting to 5.5e compatibility.

In episode 5, viewers gained their first look at an important rules update tied to the Ravenloft material. The episode features character development for Lividity, the Scion of the Three Rogues, introduced in episode 4 and played by guest star Alex Ward, a regular player in Critical Role Campaign 4.

This coordinated release strategy allows Wizards of the Coast to preview mechanics and build audience anticipation for upcoming rulebook releases. The show provides an official window into features that will soon become part of the canonical tabletop game rules, combining storytelling with mechanical previews to engage the D&D community.
