Man Apprehended For Alleged Bomb Threats Toward Nintendo: “I’m Going To Blow You All Up”
A 27-year-old unemployed man from Hekinan, Aichi Prefecture has been arrested for sending bomb threats to Nintendo’s Kyoto headquarters. Apprehended on May 12 by Koto police, the man was charged with obstructing business after sending envelopes to Nintendo in March containing explicit threats and false claims of planted explosives. The threatening letters included messages such as “I’m going to blow you all up” and claims that he had “already planted multiple bombs.”
Nintendo reported the threats to authorities on March 16, prompting a thorough search of the company’s headquarters. No explosives were discovered during the investigation, confirming the incident was a hoax. The suspect has admitted to being responsible for sending the threatening correspondence. Police are continuing their investigation to determine the man’s motives for the threats.
This arrest follows a pattern of security concerns at Nintendo, which was previously forced to cancel live events in 2024 due to similar bomb threats.
