Marathon’s First Wipe Is Just A Few Weeks Away, Here’s What Carries Over

Bungie has announced that Marathon Season 2 will launch on June 2, introducing the extraction shooter’s first seasonal wipe. This reset will reset the competitive landscape while preserving certain player investments.

The seasonal reset will affect multiple progression systems: runner and ranked levels will be reset, along with faction levels and their associated upgrades. Additionally, most in-game currencies—excluding premium currencies like Lux and Silk—will be wiped. Players’ vault inventories and seasonal codex entries that reward gear based on progression levels will also be cleared.

However, not all progress disappears. Premium currencies such as Lux and Silk will carry over between seasons, ensuring that players who have made real-money purchases retain those investments. This balanced approach maintains player investment while refreshing the competitive experience.

Bungie provided advance notice with the announcement, giving players several weeks to prepare for the transition and understand what will remain across the seasonal boundary. The wipe represents a standard live-service mechanic designed to create periodic resets that level the playing field while maintaining long-term progression elements tied to premium purchases.
