Monster Hunter Wilds Sales Really Have Fallen Off a Cliff

Monster Hunter Wilds has experienced a significant sales slowdown following its February 2025 launch, despite initial record-breaking performance for Capcom. While the game has achieved over 11.4 million units sold lifetime, its post-launch performance has declined sharply.

According to Capcom’s 2026 fiscal year results, Monster Hunter Wilds sold only 1.32 million copies over the entire 12-month period. This represents a notable underperformance compared to previous entries in the franchise during equivalent time periods. Monster Hunter Rise outsold Wilds with 1.51 million units, while the Rise Sunbreak expansion also outpaced the newer title with 1.42 million sales.

The sales trajectory represents a departure from Monster Hunter Wilds’ strong launch momentum, suggesting the game has struggled to maintain player engagement or attract new audiences during its post-launch period. This performance is particularly notable given Capcom’s apparent expectations following the game’s record-breaking debut.
