Nintendo Expands Switch Online’s Virtual Boy Library With Five More Games
Nintendo has expanded its Switch Online + Expansion Pack service by adding five classic Virtual Boy titles to the Nintendo Classics collection. The new additions include Jack Bros. (Atlus), Space Invaders (Taito Corporation), V-Tetris (Bullet-Proof), Vertical Force (Hudson Soft), and Virtual Bowling (Athena)—all originally released in 1995 for the Virtual Boy platform.
These titles are now playable on both Nintendo Switch and Nintendo Switch 2 for subscribers to the Switch Online + Expansion Pack tier. The update continues Nintendo’s ongoing preservation efforts to make Virtual Boy games accessible to modern audiences through its subscription service.
The Virtual Boy, Nintendo’s short-lived 3D handheld console from the 1990s, has seen a gradual expansion of its game library on Switch Online over time. This latest batch adds variety across multiple genres, including the puzzle game V-Tetris, the space shooter Space Invaders, the action title Vertical Force, the maze game Jack Bros., and the sports simulation Virtual Bowling. The preservation of these titles is particularly significant given the Virtual Boy’s limited commercial lifespan and the challenge of accessing original hardware today.
