Fortnite Is Getting Four Overwatch Skins On Thursday

Epic Games and Blizzard Entertainment have officially confirmed a major crossover bringing four iconic Overwatch heroes to Fortnite. D.Va, Genji, Mercy, and Tracer will arrive as cosmetic skins in Fortnite’s item shop on Thursday, May 14, with Fortnite going offline Wednesday night for the required update.

The collaboration extends beyond cosmetic skins, with Fortnite’s Sandy Strip area receiving a new Overwatch-themed zone. A cinematic trailer depicts the four Overwatch heroes rescuing Fortnite characters Jonesy and Fishstick from an attack by the Ice King and his forces. The heroes deliver their signature catchphrases—Tracer declares “The cavalry’s here,” while Mercy exclaims “Heroes never die!"—though Genji notably refrains from his typical “I need healing” line. The characters have been visually adapted to match Fortnite’s art style, with D.Va notably carrying an oversized sword.

While the full scope of the collaboration remains unrevealed, this crossover represents another major partnership for Fortnite’s live-service ecosystem, which regularly features cosmetics based on popular gaming franchises. The Overwatch content will be available immediately when servers return online following the maintenance window.
