UK MPs claim GTA 6 studio Rockstar “refused to properly engage with staff” during legal wranglings over dev firings

UK MPs have called on Rockstar Games to increase transparency and cooperation in ongoing legal proceedings with developers terminated last year. The studio dismissed staff in autumn 2025, claiming the unauthorized disclosure of confidential information through a public forum justified the terminations. However, the IWGB Game Workers Union has alleged the firings constitute union busting, contending the studio was retaliating against worker organizing efforts.

The dismissed employees sought interim relief in January but were denied, while broader legal disputes between Rockstar and the union continue to progress through the courts. UK politicians have publicly expressed concern about Rockstar’s unwillingness to meaningfully engage with staff throughout these proceedings, questioning the company’s accountability and transparency in labor matters.

The incident underscores escalating tensions within the gaming industry over worker representation and corporate practices. With the legal case still active, the situation highlights ongoing conflicts between major studios and worker advocates over employment practices and union recognition. Further developments are expected as the union pursues its claims against Rockstar Games.
