Stuart Fails to Save the Universe Debut Trailer Is Packed With Big Bang Theory Party Members and Movie References
HBO Max has released a debut trailer for Stuart Fails to Save the Universe, the third spinoff series from the hit sitcom The Big Bang Theory. The new show centers on Kevin Sussman’s Stuart Bloom, the comic book store owner who was a beloved recurring character in the original series.
According to the official description, the plot kicks off when Stuart accidentally breaks a device built by Sheldon and Leonard, triggering a multiverse Armageddon that he must now prevent. The trailer showcases a multiversal adventure that blends sci-fi elements reminiscent of shows like Dark Matter and The Matrix with post-apocalyptic themes from The Walking Dead.
The show features several characters from The Big Bang Theory, including Denise (Lauren Lapkus), Stuart’s girlfriend; Bert (Brian Posehn), a geologist friend; and Barry Kripke, Stuart’s longtime nemesis. The trailer is packed with pop culture references ranging from Star Wars to The Matrix, and reportedly even features what appears to be Batman villain Mr. Freeze.
Stuart Fails to Save the Universe is set to premiere on July 23 on HBO Max. The series represents yet another expansion of The Big Bang Theory universe, following the success of earlier spinoffs like Young Sheldon.
