Xbox CEO Wants To Know If You Spell It “Xbox” Or “XBOX”

On the occasion of its 25th anniversary, Microsoft’s Xbox brand is experiencing a moment of community engagement centered on a branding question: how do fans spell the platform’s name? Xbox CEO Asha Sharma posted a poll on social media asking whether players prefer “Xbox” or “XBOX”—in all capital letters.

The response has been decisive. As of press time, “XBOX” holds a commanding lead with approximately 63% of the votes, while “Xbox” trails with the remaining support. Over 7,000 fans participated in the poll on X (formerly Twitter), demonstrating considerable interest in the branding debate.

The poll was set to remain open through May 14, 2026, giving additional time for the community to weigh in. While this may seem like a lighthearted moment of brand engagement, it reflects Xbox leadership’s interest in understanding how the community views and identifies with the platform’s iconic name as it celebrates a quarter-century since its 2001 launch by Microsoft.
