Your Xbox Gamerscore Badges Are About To Look A Lot Cooler
Xbox is rolling out new visual updates to its console interface as part of efforts to rebuild goodwill among its playerbase. The company, under new CEO Asha Sharma who took over in late February, has introduced a refreshed boot-up animation that emphasizes Xbox’s signature green color with updated visuals and sound. The animation will begin rolling out to Xbox Insiders, followed by wider availability.
More significantly, Xbox is introducing tiered Gamerscore badges that celebrate achievement hunters. These new badges unlock at various Gamerscore milestones—ranging from 1,000 up to 10 million—and will display on player profiles and within the Xbox Guide. The badges feature increasingly elaborate designs as players progress, providing visual recognition of their achievement-hunting prowess across Xbox, PC, and mobile platforms, where achievements have been tracked since the Xbox 360 launched in 2005.
These updates represent the latest in a series of moves by Asha Sharma and new chief content officer Matt Booty to restore faith in the Xbox brand. Recent months saw the leadership reverse a controversial Xbox Game Pass Ultimate price hike (from $29.99 to $22.99), though future Call of Duty games will no longer receive day-one inclusion. The company also rebranded from “Microsoft Gaming” back to “Xbox,” signaling a return to the franchise’s core identity.
The new features are currently available for testing through the Xbox Insider program, with broader rollout expected soon.
