The Legend of Zelda Movie Releasing Sooner Than Expected
Nintendo has announced an accelerated release date for its highly anticipated live-action adaptation of The Legend of Zelda. The film will now debut in theaters worldwide on April 30, 2027, moving up one week from the previously announced May 7, 2027 release date.
The announcement was delivered by Shigeru Miyamoto, the legendary creator of the Zelda franchise, through Nintendo’s official social media channels and the Nintendo Today! mobile app. Miyamoto highlighted the production team’s unified commitment to bringing the film to audiences sooner, stating that there is less than one year remaining until the theatrical release.
This represents the second release date change for the live-action adaptation. The film was originally scheduled to premiere on March 27, 2027 before being postponed to May 7, with the new April 30 date now representing an intermediate timeline. Nintendo has not publicly provided specific reasoning for the scheduling adjustments, though Miyamoto’s statement suggests the team’s dedication to meeting accelerated production milestones.
The Legend of Zelda live-action movie is being produced through a partnership between Nintendo and Sony Pictures. With approximately eleven months remaining until the April 30, 2027 release, the production team appears to be operating under an intensive schedule to deliver the adaptation within the newly compressed timeline.
