ARC Raiders’ First New Trader Since Launch is Coming Next Week
ARC Raiders is changing its content update strategy, shifting from monthly to biannual (six-month) updates, according to Embark Studios. The developer announced this significant change in cadence, stating that the longer development cycles will allow for more “transformative updates” rather than incremental monthly patches.
The first update under the new model, titled “Frozen Trail,” will introduce the game’s largest map to date, offering substantial fresh content. Additionally, ARC Raiders will receive its first new trader character next week, bringing new endgame mechanics to address the late-game experience that has been a point of friction for dedicated players. The unnamed trader is suspected to be a character called Bilguun.
Embark had originally planned to deliver monthly updates when ARC Raiders launched, but this decision reflects a strategic shift to prioritize fewer but more substantial content drops. While some of the game’s dedicated playerbase may be disappointed by the reduced update frequency, the studio believes the approach will better serve the game’s long-term health and player engagement by allowing more time for meaningful development.
