Hello from Eurogamer’s new editor-in-chief
Chris Tapsell has been appointed as Eurogamer’s new editor-in-chief. Tapsell, who describes the role as a genuine honour, has been with the gaming media outlet for nearly 10 years, initially joining as a guides writer following interviews with colleagues Oli Welsh and Matt Reynolds in the company’s former office.
In his announcement, Tapsell reflects on his journey through the organization, recalling the publication’s old workspace—a modest square room that served as both a video production area and general games room. He references several longtime colleagues including Aoife, Johnny, Ian, and Chris B., underscoring his sustained involvement with the team over the past decade.
Tapsell’s progression from guides writer to editor-in-chief represents a significant career milestone within the organization. He notes that assuming the editorial leadership position is something he has genuinely aspired to since joining Eurogamer, reflecting both his long-term commitment to the outlet and his deep institutional knowledge of its operations and direction.
