Marvel Tokon: Fighting Souls’ 10-Hour Story Mode Will Feature Gameplay After All
Arc System Works has clarified that Marvel Tokon: Fighting Souls’ upcoming Episode Mode will include actual gameplay alongside its interactive comic book-style storytelling, contradicting earlier reports.
The Episode Mode is designed as a story-focused experience for casual players, presented in an interactive comic format. Initial coverage suggested the mode would function similarly to Guilty Gear Strive’s cutscene-based story mode, featuring narrative sequences without combat mechanics. However, recent updates from the developers have confirmed this characterization was inaccurate.
Producer Takeshi Yamanaka and director/lead battle designer Kazuto ‘Pachi’ Sekine provided additional details about the story mode’s design in an interview with Japanese gaming publication 4Gamer. The revelation clarifies player concerns about the accessibility-focused story mode and suggests Arc System Works is balancing narrative content with interactive fighting game elements, allowing casual audiences to engage with the game’s 10-hour story while still experiencing its core gameplay mechanics.
