Nintendo Switch Online adds five more Classics for May
Nintendo has expanded its Nintendo Switch Online + Expansion Pack subscription service with five Virtual Boy games now available in May 2026. The new titles are V-Tetris, Jack Bros., Space Invaders Virtual Collection, Virtual Bowling, and Vertical Force. Players in Japan also get access to Virtual Fishing, making six games in total for the month.
To play these Virtual Boy games on Switch, subscribers need either the $100 Virtual Boy accessory for the Switch family of consoles or a more budget-friendly $25 cardboard alternative. Both accessories require an active Nintendo Switch Online membership. The premium $100 Virtual Boy accessory includes swappable lenses that will allow players to change the color options of games later this year. These games are also playable on the upcoming Nintendo Switch 2.
This latest update brings the total Virtual Boy library on Nintendo Switch Online to 12 games in the West, following the launch titles that debuted in February 2026. Nintendo has previously confirmed plans to release 16 Virtual Boy games total on the subscription service, with additional titles like Mario Clash and Mario’s Tennis still to come. This means the service has already made most of the Virtual Boy’s original game library available to modern players, preserving titles from Nintendo’s notoriously short-lived 1995 handheld console.
