Overwatch’s OG mode has made me realise how far this game has come and how good we have it right now

Overwatch is marking its 10-year anniversary with an OG arcade mode that recreates the original day-one version of the game. Alongside anniversary loot boxes, Blizzard’s Team 4 has given players a chance to experience Overwatch as it was at launch.

The original mode proves surprisingly chaotic and feels notably slower than the current game. Players have reported unusual team compositions emerging naturally, such as matches with multiple Winstons battling in mid-air and the infamous Reinhardt-Bastion-Mercy combination. Limited resources like healing items create tension unlike modern Overwatch.

While many tried the OG mode simply for anniversary rewards, the experience has provided valuable perspective on how much the game has evolved. The contrast between the original and current versions highlights just how far Overwatch has come, suggesting that the live-service game in its current state is in a better place than its original iteration.
