The Super Mario Galaxy Movie Digital Download Available Next Week, Here’s All the Special Features
The Super Mario Galaxy Movie, the successful animated sequel to 2023’s The Super Mario Bros. Movie, will become available for digital purchase starting May 19, 2026. Physical media releases on 4K Ultra HD and Blu-ray will follow on June 16, 2026, with all formats including over an hour of special bonus content.
The special features package will include never-before-seen footage, behind-the-scenes interviews, and detailed explorations of the Nintendo references woven throughout the film—something fans praised about the movie’s design. However, deleted scenes will not be included in the releases.
As of the announcement, The Super Mario Galaxy Movie has earned $942 million at the global box office since its April 1 theatrical release, making it the biggest box office hit of 2026 so far. While the film’s performance is strong, it appears unlikely to surpass the $1.36 billion earned by its predecessor, The Super Mario Bros. Movie, which became a cultural phenomenon in 2023.
The film features Chris Pratt returning as Mario, alongside Charlie Day as Luigi and Anya Taylor-Joy as Princess Peach. The sequel introduces Princess Rosalina (voiced by Brie Larson) and Bowser Jr. (Benny Safdie). The story sends the characters on an adventure through imaginative locations including a Koopa amusement park and an underground gambling den, while exploring themes of family and belonging.
The digital release on May 19 marks the movie’s first availability for home viewing, allowing fans who missed the theatrical run or wish to revisit the film to experience it outside cinemas.
