Japanese Charts: Tomodachi Life Overtakes Pokopia As The Best-Selling 2026 Release

Tomodachi Life: Living the Dream has become the best-selling physical game release in Japan for 2026, surpassing Pokémon Pokopia following strong sales during the two-week Golden Week period. According to Famitsu’s latest hardware and software charts covering April 27 to May 10, Tomodachi Life sold approximately 300,000 units during this period.

The life simulation title has now accumulated over one million physical units sold in Japan, representing a substantial portion of its 3.8 million units sold worldwide. With this achievement, Tomodachi Life has overtaken Pokémon Pokopia, which had previously held the position of best-selling 2026 release in the Japanese market.

Pokopia maintains strong momentum in second place with sales of 51,662 units during the two-week reporting period. The Pokémon spin-off continues to perform impressively on the charts, though it has not yet reached one million copies sold in Japan’s physical market.

The sales surge reflects robust consumer engagement during Golden Week, Japan’s major holiday period, when consumers typically increase spending on entertainment products. Both titles continue to demonstrate substantial market appeal among Japanese players on the Nintendo Switch platform.
