Another round of layoffs at Playtika-owned Wooga

Wooga, the Berlin-based studio owned by Playtika, has announced another round of layoffs. While the company confirmed the staff reduction, officials refused to disclose the exact number of affected employees, reasoning behind the cuts, or provide an official statement.

According to multiple LinkedIn posts from the past week, approximately a dozen positions were eliminated across multiple departments including design, art, quality assurance, and administrative roles. A former Wooga employee publicly criticized the “abysmal management decisions” made by both Wooga’s management and parent company Playtika over the past year, suggesting internal tensions and organizational friction.

The layoffs come as Playtika has repositioned itself as a casual game-maker. Wooga’s flagship title, June’s Journey, a hidden object game, remains a key revenue driver for the publisher, having generated $76 million in revenue during the most recent financial period. This marks another reduction in force at the studio, indicating ongoing operational challenges despite the commercial success of its major titles.
