Xbox Elite Controller 3 Leaked, Includes Removable Battery And Extra Buttons

Microsoft’s upcoming Xbox Elite Controller Series 3 has been accidentally revealed through images published by a Brazilian regulator, Anatel. The leak, shared by Tecnoblog and spotted across multiple gaming outlets, confirms the successor to the long-popular Elite Controller 2 and introduces several significant upgrades aimed at professional and hardcore gamers.

The Elite 3 maintains the premium controller design philosophy with a sleek all-black aesthetic accented with silver details. Among its key new features are a removable battery—a practical improvement over its predecessor—and newly added scroll wheel buttons positioned at the bottom of the controller flanking the headphone jack. The controller also includes interchangeable components including an updated D-pad and back paddles, allowing players to customize their control scheme.

Two mysterious new buttons have been spotted on the leaked images, though their specific functions remain unclear. Most notably, the Elite 3 introduces a dedicated cloud mode button that allows players to seamlessly switch between local play and Xbox Cloud Gaming, connecting directly to Microsoft’s cloud gaming service. This feature reflects Microsoft’s growing emphasis on cloud gaming as a core part of its gaming strategy.

The leak comes just hours after images of a separate compact Xbox Cloud Gaming controller also surfaced, suggesting Microsoft is preparing a two-pronged controller strategy for its summer showcase event. While the cloud gaming controller is designed as an affordable, accessible option for streaming gameplay to TVs, computers, and mobile devices, the Elite 3 continues to serve the premium segment of console and PC gamers seeking advanced customization and performance features.
