NFL Team Reveals Schedule With Halo After Using Minecraft Last Year
The Los Angeles Chargers have announced their 2026 NFL season schedule using Halo Infinite, continuing their tradition of creative video game-based reveals. Last year the team used Minecraft, and this year they partnered with Xbox to create a six-minute video in Halo Infinite’s Forge mode.
The video presents the Chargers’ 18-week schedule (September 2026 through January 2027) in the style of a multiplayer setup screen, with each opposing team presented as a multiplayer map. For example, the Week 4 matchup against the Seattle Seahawks appears as “Beast Mode” with a Pike Place Market-themed level. The team even secured Halo multiplayer announcer Jeff Steitzer (or a soundalike) to provide callouts for each week’s matchup.
Xbox CEO Asha Sharma responded enthusiastically to the reveal on social media. The video was created with Microsoft’s permission and doesn’t use any actual Halo Infinite gameplay footage.
This announcement exemplifies how NFL teams have increasingly adopted creative and entertainment-focused approaches to schedule reveals. The Chargers’ partnership with Xbox and their use of Halo Infinite’s Forge mode demonstrates how sports organizations are engaging with gaming culture and leveraging popular video game franchises to connect with fans.
