Forza Horizon 6 will unleash the Wankel-powered Furai to kick off its Festival Playlist car additions
Forza Horizon 6’s live-service Festival Playlist will launch on May 21st, with the 2008 Mazda Furai serving as the inaugural car reward for its first series, titled “Welcome to Japan.” Players can obtain the distinctive concept vehicle by earning 80 points within the series.
The Furai is one of Japan’s most unconventional concept cars, distinguished by its Wankel rotary engine—named after German engineer Felix Wankel, who designed this innovative engine type. Unlike conventional piston engines, the Wankel rotary engine operates on a fundamentally different mechanical principle, representing a unique approach to automotive engineering that Mazda has historically championed.
The selection of the Furai as the Festival Playlist’s opening car reward reflects Playground Games’ strategy for rolling out live-service content in Forza Horizon 6. As the game prepares for its full release, the developer is establishing the cadence for seasonal vehicle additions and player progression rewards that will sustain engagement throughout the game’s lifecycle. The Festival Playlist mechanism allows players to earn coveted cars through regular gameplay participation rather than purely monetary means.
