Hot on the heels of Apple’s iPhone-in-a-laptop, Google and Intel have teamed up to give us the Googlebook

Google and Intel have announced the Googlebook, a new laptop that combines Android and ChromeOS functionality with Intel processors. The device is designed to bring phone and AI capabilities to the laptop form factor, drawing comparisons to Apple’s recently announced MacBook Neo concept.

The collaboration marks a significant partnership between Google and Intel, with manufacturing partners including Acer, ASUS, Dell, HP, and Lenovo. However, detailed specifications remain limited at this stage, with the announcement consisting primarily of marketing imagery and brief statements from Intel.

Specific hardware details have not been confirmed, though Intel’s Panther or Wildcat Lake processors are considered the most likely options to power the new devices. The integration of Android and ChromeOS represents an attempt to leverage Google’s mobile and desktop operating systems on traditional laptop hardware.

The Googlebook announcement appears to be a direct response to Apple’s MacBook Neo initiative, which similarly positions mobile-first processing at the core of a laptop experience. The industry trend toward integrating smartphone technology and AI features into traditional computing devices continues to accelerate.
