Only Three Years Later, A Good Racing Game Is Being Delisted And Shutting Down Servers
LEGO 2K Drive, the brick-based open-world racing game developed by Visual Concepts and published by 2K Games, will be delisted from digital storefronts on May 19, 2026—exactly three years after its initial release. Players have just four days to purchase the game digitally before it disappears from Steam, the Epic Games Store, PlayStation Store, Xbox Store, and Nintendo eShop.
Following the delisting, the game will remain playable for those who already own it, and players will be able to redownload it. However, multiplayer servers will shut down on May 31, 2027, at which point all online-dependent functions will cease to work. This means single-player and local multiplayer modes can still be enjoyed, but any features requiring online connectivity will become unavailable.
The delisting arrives despite the game receiving positive reviews at launch in 2023, when critics praised its creative design and fun gameplay. Visual Concepts designed LEGO 2K Drive as a competitor to the Forza Horizon franchise, offering an arcade-style open-world racing experience with LEGO’s signature aesthetic. However, the game never achieved the mainstream success of its inspiration, particularly as newer racing titles like Forza Horizon 6 have captured player attention.
While 2K Games has not publicly stated reasons for the delisting, the removal reflects an ongoing concern in gaming about game preservation. As digital distribution becomes the primary sales channel, the ability to delist games raises questions about long-term player access and the preservation of titles once their servers shut down. Players who haven’t purchased LEGO 2K Drive yet have until May 19 to secure their copy before it becomes unavailable for purchase.
