Sonic the Hedgehog 4 Director Shares Behind-the-Scenes Look at Metal Sonic as Filming Wraps

Sonic the Hedgehog 4 has officially wrapped filming, with the movie set to release on March 19, 2027. Director Jeff Fowler shared a behind-the-scenes photograph on social media featuring a life-sized model of Metal Sonic, the iconic villain from the Sonic franchise. The reveal comes nearly a year before the film’s theatrical debut, building anticipation among fans.

Metal Sonic’s prominence in the film was previously teased through a post-credits scene in Sonic the Hedgehog 3, in which the mechanical antagonist attacked Sonic alongside other robotic clones before being stopped by Amy Rose. The fourth installment will continue this storyline with Metal Sonic as a major villain.

The film will feature returning cast members including Ben Schwartz as Sonic, Jim Carrey as Dr. Eggman, Idris Elba as Knuckles the Echidna, and Keanu Reeves as Shadow the Hedgehog. Kristen Bell returns as Amy Rose, with supporting roles from Tika Sumpter, Matt Berry, Colleen O’Shaughnessey, and Lee Majdoub. New additions to the franchise include acclaimed actors Ben Kingsley and Nick Offerman.
