Poll: Would You Buy an inFAMOUS Collection for PS5?
Rumors suggest Sony may be developing an inFAMOUS collection for PlayStation 5, bringing the celebrated PS3 franchises to modern hardware. The original inFAMOUS games, which are considered classics in the PS3 library, currently have no straightforward way to be played on contemporary systems.
According to an unconfirmed rumor, Sony is collaborating with an undisclosed developer to create the collection. However, the source of this report has received information from only a single individual and has not been able to independently verify the claim, raising questions about its credibility.
The rumor gained additional traction when fans noticed that a 2022 blog post from Sucker Punch Productions—the original inFAMOUS developer—had been removed from the internet. The deleted post stated: “we have no plans to revisit inFAMOUS or Sly Cooper right now, and no other studio is currently working on projects related to those franchises either.” The removal of this statement has led some to speculate it may indicate a change in Sony’s stance toward reviving these franchises.
Despite general fatigue around game remakes and remasters in the industry, there is considerable enthusiasm for an inFAMOUS revival. The original games, while well-regarded, are acknowledged to have had technical limitations during the PS3 era and would benefit from modernization. Such a collection would address longstanding preservation concerns, as these titles have become increasingly difficult to access for new players and existing fans.
