Lego Batman team swears adults will be challenged by Dark Knight mode

TT Games is launching Lego Batman: Legacy of the Dark Knight on May 22 with ambitions to create what the studio calls “the definitive Batman game.” According to head of development Jonathan Smith, the upcoming title represents a significant leap in scope and complexity compared to previous Lego games.

The game features an expansive Gotham City hub with diverse activities and challenges designed to engage both casual players and adults. Beyond the linear puzzle-filled levels typical of Lego games, players will encounter villain missions, rooftop puzzles, and vehicle challenges spread throughout the cityscape. The development team has emphasized depth of Batman lore, incorporating enough continuity and references to satisfy longtime fans of the franchise.

One of the key features is Dark Knight mode, which TT Games specifically designed to challenge more experienced players. The studio’s approach suggests the game aims to bridge accessibility for newcomers while providing substantial content and difficulty options for veterans.
