Take-Two CEO Reaffirms GTA 6 Release Date Once Again

Take-Two Interactive CEO Strauss Zelnick has reaffirmed the Grand Theft Auto 6 release date for the third time, now set for November 19, 2026. While multiple confirmations of a release date might seem unusual, the unprecedented anticipation surrounding GTA 6 makes each reassurance newsworthy.

GTA 6 has experienced a tumultuous path to launch. Originally scheduled for 2025, the game was first delayed to May 2026 before being pushed back again in November 2025 to its current November 19, 2026 date. The cumulative wait has been particularly long for the gaming community—over 12 years will have passed since the release of GTA V in 2013, meaning some high school freshmen entering this fall were not yet born when Rockstar’s last major entry in the franchise launched.

Zelnick’s reaffirmation comes with increased confidence. At an industry event in April, he suggested that employees and players would be “calling in sick” on the November 19 release date. His latest confirmation appears to carry even stronger assurance, positioning him as committed to hitting the deadline despite the previous delays that have tested community patience.

The significance of GTA 6 extends beyond typical game releases. As one of the most anticipated titles of its generation, the game represents a major event in the gaming calendar and carries substantial commercial importance for Take-Two. The repeated confirmations suggest the publisher is acutely aware of the need to rebuild confidence after the earlier delays and is taking the release date commitment seriously.
