This “punchy” 4K 27-inch PC gaming monitor switches to 1080p and 320Hz for esports, and it’s even better with this price drop
ASUS is offering a 33% discount on the ROG Strix 27-inch gaming monitor (XG27UCG) through Amazon as an early Memorial Day promotion, reducing the price to $299. The monitor’s key feature is its dual-mode capability, supporting both 4K resolution and 1080p at 320Hz refresh rate, allowing gamers to switch between visual fidelity for single-player games and high refresh rate performance for competitive esports.
This dual-mode design addresses a fundamental compromise in gaming displays, where higher resolutions traditionally come at the expense of refresh rate. The 320Hz capability at 1080p targets competitive gaming communities, while the 4K mode serves graphically demanding titles where visual quality is prioritized. A PC Gamer review awarded the monitor 86/100, noting that it successfully delivers on “two displays in one” for “relatively sensible money”—a value proposition reinforced by the current promotional pricing.
The monitor represents a versatile option for PC gamers seeking flexibility between different gaming scenarios without requiring multiple displays. The limited-time Memorial Day discount makes the high-end display technology more accessible to those considering an upgrade.
