Chuck Tingle explains his turn from erotica to zombie-filled Fabulous Bodies
Author Chuck Tingle is transitioning from his well-known satirical and absurdist gay erotica—including titles like Pounded by President Bigfoot and I’m Gay for My Billionaire Jet Plane—into horror fiction. His upcoming novel Fabulous Bodies, launching July 7, marks a significant creative shift for the prolific writer, who has maintained his anonymity throughout his career behind sunglasses and a pink mask bearing the phrase “Love Is Real.”
The novel is pitched as “Drive meets Beetlejuice,” positioning it as a summer blockbuster-style read suited for beach or poolside consumption. The story centers on Eddie Michaels, a piano-playing rock star and queer cultural icon reminiscent of Elton John, who dies unexpectedly. Fashion influencer Poppy Stringer is then tasked with retrieving his body from the medical examiner’s office, setting up the narrative’s central plot.
Despite his reputation in the erotica space, Tingle has demonstrated considerable talent and productivity as a horror writer, establishing himself as a versatile author capable of working across multiple genres. The shift from satirical erotica to horror represents an evolution in his career while maintaining the creative sensibility that has garnered him a dedicated audience.
