Zeus, Faker, Gumayusi, Keria, Zeka and Canyon Selected for Asian Games as Oner & Chovy Snubbed
The Korea eSports Association (KeSPA) has announced South Korea’s League of Legends roster for the 2026 Asian Games, featuring six competitive players including T1 legends. The lineup consists of Choi ‘Zeus’ Woo-je, Kim ‘Canyon’ Geon-bu, Lee ‘Faker’ Sang-hyeok, Kim ‘Zeka’ Geon-woo, Lee ‘Gumayusi’ Min-hyeong, and Ryu ‘Keria’ Min-seok.
The Asian Games competition, running from September 19 to October 4, 2026, carries particular significance in South Korean culture. A gold medal grants athletes exemption from mandatory military service, providing substantial motivation for competitors seeking relief from this civic obligation.
The roster notably features the return of Gumayusi and Keria as a bot lane duo, continuing their partnership from T1. Faker makes another Asian Games appearance, reinforcing South Korea’s status as a dominant force in international League of Legends competition. However, the selection has drawn attention for notable absences: Oner and Chovy, both prominent competitors in the professional scene, have been excluded from the roster.
The composition reflects KeSPA’s strategic approach to team selection, balancing established veterans with current competitive performers. Success at the Asian Games carries significant prestige within the esports community and can substantially influence players’ professional trajectories and legacy in competitive League of Legends.
