Subnautica 2 Publisher Krafton Offered Employees Massive Baby Bonuses, And It Paid Off
South Korean game publisher Krafton, known for PUBG and Subnautica 2, has implemented an ambitious employee benefit program offering substantial cash incentives for childbirth. The initiative provides up to 100 million Won (approximately $67,000) in support per child, with an initial lump sum of 60 million Won ($40,100) provided to employees who have a child.
The program has achieved notable results in its first year. Krafton reports that 46 babies were born to company employees, roughly double the number from comparable periods in 2024 and 2025. This significant increase suggests the financial incentive has effectively influenced employee family planning decisions.
The initiative reflects South Korea’s ongoing demographic challenges, including declining birth rates and concerns about the rising cost of childbirth and child-rearing. By offering substantial financial support, Krafton is addressing a major barrier to parenthood in developed countries—the economic burden of having children. This corporate approach represents an interesting case study in using direct financial incentives to encourage major life decisions and potentially influence population trends within an organization.
