‘It’s a Clear Upgrade’: Why 007 First Light Will Look and Play Best on PS5 Pro

IO Interactive’s upcoming James Bond action simulation game, 007 First Light, will leverage PlayStation 5 Pro hardware to deliver superior visual fidelity. The studio confirmed that the title will utilize PSSR2, Sony’s latest proprietary upscaling technology, out of the box.

According to IO Interactive’s Senior Global Communications Manager Yann Roskell, PSSR2 delivers a “clear step up in image quality” compared to its predecessor. The upgraded technology enables notably improved character detail and denser foliage rendering, with particular enhancements to scenes that traditionally challenge upscaling algorithms.

The new upscaling algorithm provides multiple visual benefits, resulting in a smoother and more stable overall image. It significantly reduces noise and artifacts—common issues that emerged when the original PSSR was used at higher quality targets on PS5 Pro. This technical improvement suggests 007 First Light will offer PS5 Pro owners a noticeably refined visual experience compared to standard PS5 hardware.
