ARC Raiders is Adding Denuvo in New Update

Embark Studios has announced the implementation of Denuvo Anti-Cheat in ARC Raiders, beginning May 19th in response to persistent cheating problems plaguing the multiplayer shooter. The rollout will initially be limited to a subset of players before expanding pending close monitoring of its impact.

The addition of anti-cheat measures comes as the game faces challenges with declining player numbers and a slower content schedule. The studio previously announced a shift to bi-annual major expansions, with the next significant update now scheduled for October. Embark emphasized their commitment to minimizing any performance impact from the anti-cheat software, acknowledging a common concern surrounding Denuvo’s implementation.

The update bringing Denuvo also includes new content for players: a new trader and a grenade launcher weapon, providing fresh gameplay options alongside the anti-cheat measures.

This implementation follows what Embark describes as a “positive rollout” of Denuvo Anti-Cheat in their previous title, The Finals, suggesting confidence in the solution’s effectiveness. Cheating has been a persistent problem for ARC Raiders, with hacking and other exploitative behavior repeatedly mentioned as a significant issue affecting the player experience.

The staged rollout approach indicates Embark’s cautious stance, allowing them to monitor the anti-cheat system’s performance and effectiveness before deploying it across the entire player base. This strategy suggests the studio is aware of potential technical concerns while prioritizing player security and fair play.
