Darksiders Warmastered Charges PS5 Players For An Upgrade Xbox Already Gives Away For Free

Darksiders Warmastered Edition has launched on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S, offering an upgraded version of the 2016 remaster with 4K resolution support, re-rendered cutscenes, improved shadows, and enhanced rendering.

However, the upgrade pricing for existing owners differs significantly between platforms. Xbox One owners can upgrade to the Xbox Series X|S version completely free of charge, while PlayStation 4 owners must pay $9.99 to upgrade to the PS5 version. The standalone purchase price for new players is $29.99 across both platforms.

THQ Nordic has not provided an official explanation for the pricing discrepancy. Industry observers suggest the difference may stem from how the game is priced on last-generation consoles, with PlayStation 4 maintaining different pricing than its Xbox One counterpart. The PS5 upgrade includes native 4K rendering, a Photo Mode, and PlayStation 5 DualSense controller feature support.
