Gamecity Hamburg awards up to €80,000 to five games in latest Prototype Funding Round

Gamecity Hamburg has announced its latest round of game development funding, selecting five digital games to receive non-repayable grants of up to €80,000 each through its Prototype Funding Round. The initiative supports Hamburg-based studios and independent developers in creating market-ready prototypes.

The funded projects span several game genres, with a notable concentration of horror-themed titles. Manor Cartographer, a horror puzzle adventure by Pipapo Games, secured the maximum award of €80,000. Odem, a roguelike deck-builder developed by Odd Zeroes, also received €80,000. Studio Gutheil’s Welken, a narrative survival horror game, was awarded €60,000, while Chasmic Drop Studio’s Ungradable: Twisted Card Grading, described as a horror simulation, received €48,000.

The Prototype Funding Round is designed to help developers progress from prototype stage to market-ready releases, potentially facilitating the transition to full production or attracting additional investment. As non-repayable grants, these funds are particularly valuable for early-stage game development and reducing financial risk for emerging studios.

Applications for the subsequent funding cycle will open in September 2026, continuing Gamecity Hamburg’s support for the local game development community and reinforcing Hamburg’s position as a hub for independent game creation in Germany.
