Into The Unwell, the rubber hose animation-inspired action roguelike with a touch of Cuphead, has been delayed to 2027
Coffee Stain Publishing and developer She Was Such A Good Horse announced on May 18th that Into The Unwell, the rubber hose animation-inspired action roguelike, has been delayed from its originally planned 2026 Early Access launch to a full release in 2027.
The studio announced the postponement in characteristically comedic fashion, attributing the delay to a “cartoonishly hilarious accident involving drink cans and bubblegum.” The game, described as an action roguelite featuring heavily medicated misfits, had generated considerable anticipation since its Summer Game Fest 2025 debut, emerging as one of the most visually distinctive upcoming independent titles.
The shift from an Early Access model to a complete full release represents a strategic change in the game’s launch approach. By extending development time and consolidating to a single release, the developers are prioritizing a more polished final product over a phased launch strategy.
The game’s distinctive visual aesthetic, inspired by classic rubber hose animation and drawing stylistic comparisons to Cuphead, remains its defining characteristic. While specific details about the 2027 release remain limited, the extended development window suggests the studio is committed to delivering a refined experience at launch.
