The Mortal Kombat 2 Blu-Ray Release Is Already Up For Preorder
Mortal Kombat 2, the action sequel that recently premiered in theaters, is already available for preorder in multiple home video formats. Retailers including Walmart and Amazon have begun taking preorders for the physical media release, though an official launch date has not yet been announced.
Several editions have been made available to consumers. Walmart is offering an exclusive Steelbook 4K edition priced at $38, while a standard edition is available at Amazon for $28. The standard edition will be released across multiple formats, including 4K UHD Blu-ray, standard Blu-ray, and DVD versions. This multi-format approach allows consumers to choose based on their home theater setup and budget preferences.
The early availability of preorders follows the film’s recent theatrical debut, where it has reportedly performed strongly at the box office. The film is described as being “bigger and bloodier” than the original Mortal Kombat movie, suggesting an escalation in scale and intensity for the franchise’s second installment.
The move to offer multiple editions and formats reflects standard practice in home video distribution, allowing studios to capture different consumer segments—from casual viewers seeking affordable DVD copies to enthusiasts with premium 4K display systems. However, with no confirmed release date, consumers are currently committing to purchase without knowing when their preorders will arrive.
