Splitgate 2 Dev’s Titanfall-Style Game Pops Up On Steam

1047 Games, the studio behind Splitgate, has officially announced Empulse, a new fast-paced 6v6 movement shooter. The announcement came after the game unexpectedly appeared on Steam ahead of schedule, with the studio acknowledging the leak in their reveal, stating they “wanted to share EMPULSE on our own terms, but leaks happen.”

Empulse is inspired by Titanfall and emphasizes player movement as a core mechanic. Set in the post-utopian city of Freehold, the game combines on-foot combat with mech piloting. Players can utilize wallruns, grappling hooks, holojumps, and P.A.I.N.T. bombs to traverse the map and gain tactical advantages, with mech control playing a significant role in tipping the balance of matches.

The game is scheduled to launch into early access later in 2026, with a full reveal expected at Summer Game Fest. According to 1047 Games CEO Ian Proulx, Empulse is currently the studio’s main priority, though they remain committed to supporting Splitgate: Arena Reloaded, their relaunched version of the critically troubled Splitgate 2.

The announcement represents a significant pivot for 1047 Games, moving from the Halo-meets-Portal gameplay of Splitgate toward a Titanfall-inspired direction. Coming roughly one year after Splitgate 2’s rocky launch and relaunch, the new title suggests the studio is eager to establish a new flagship while maintaining support for their existing player base.
